The following wiring diagrams have been developed by members of our Pit Bull Guitars Community Forum and represent just one way to wire your guitar. With any configuration of pick-ups and switches, there are myriad ways you can wire up your controls. These configurations will work on your guitar and produce great results. Rebel Connect your neck pickup to the pigtail labeled "N" and your bridge pickup to the pigtail labeled "B". Solder your pickup leads to the pigtails after installing this assembly. Solder your pickup's hot conductor to the pigtail inner conductor and solder your pickup's ground wire to the outer shield of the pigtail.
You might find it easier to use a tie wrap to hold the wires together while soldering. On vintage 2-conductor pickups the outer shield is the ground conductor. It should be soldered to the volume pot bodies along with the outer shields of the selector switch wires.
Solder the pickup ground conductors to a potentiometer body wherever you find it to be most convenient. Ground the bridge ground wire and the pickup wire shields to potentiometer bodies. Kurt began playing guitar at the age of nine in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

It will soon be going on the Fabric Stencil Guitar. For this project, I am converting a two humbucker guitar with one volume and one tone into one that has a volume for each pickup and no tone control. This is my favorite setup for guitar wiring because: 1. I rarely use the tone knob on any guitar.
I like to keep the neck pickup at a lower volume for cleaner sound coming through my tube amp, and the bridge pickup on ten for more output at the flick of a switch. The whole process took about an hour. Tools Used: Watt pencil type soldering iron maybe overkill, but works fast, and I'm not worried about frying any capacitors for this one.
I drew up a diagram before doing anything. I could have used a schematic from the Seymour Duncan website, but I've done this so many times, and even when you do have the schematic, it can help to draw it yourself to make the layout of wires better.
The way I think about a volume pot is: signal goes in one side, comes out the middle tab, other side is grounded. Reverse the order of the input and the ground, and the knob turns the opposite way. With this kind of three way switch it's easy too look and see what's connected. Just make sure it's not upside down.
The picture I drew below leaves out the wire that grounds the whole thing to the bridge itself. It also doesn't show that I bend the grounded tab on each pot up so that it and any wire connected to it are soldered to the casing. For this step, I removed everything I didn't need, and cleaned all the contacts so there was a little hole I could put the new wire in.
If you are new to soldering, the key is patience. Also, if you touch the hot soldering iron, your skin will burn into bubbling blisters that hurt really bad. After burning myself a few times years ago, I learned to respect the tool and to be very careful, and haven't burned myself in many years.
It will burn the palm of your hand so bad, you will lose sleep because it feels like your hand is in a jar full of poisonous jellyfish. To remove a wire: get a tiny bit of solder on the tip of the iron, hold it to the connection and wait until the solder melts, then use a probe or pliers to remove the wire.
To clean the contact, you can use desoldering braid, or get the contact hot, push the solder through with a probe, let it cool and snip off the little spike of solder with wire cutters. To connect a wire to a contact: If you stick the wire through and then fold it around and twist it on, it can be hard to remove later, so I usually just stick it through, or maybe put it through and bend it.1 Volume 1 Tone circut for a guitar or amplifier
I usually just touch the contact with the tip of the iron with a tiny bit of solder on it, and wait a while, until the wire itself is hot enough to melt fresh solder. Don't just touch the solder to the iron and drip it on, it wont bond to the metal. The solder should dry to a shiny silver if you did it right. To connect a wire to a pot casing: I hold the stripped end of the wire to the casing using the tip of the iron, wait a while, touch solder to the wire not the iron and build up a little puddle of solder.Can't find the exact guitar wiring diagram you need in our online archive?

Its advantage over the ordinary Chi-square is that it is more easily interpreted, since its range is always limited to 0 through 1 (where 0 means complete independence).
Interpretation of Contingency Measures. An important disadvantage of measures of contingency (reviewed above) is that they do not lend themselves to clear interpretations in terms of probability or "proportion of variance," as is the case, for example, of the Pearson r (see Correlations).
There is no commonly accepted measure of relation between categories that has such a clear interpretation. Statistics Based on Ranks. Suppose we asked a sample of respondents to indicate their interest in watching different sports on a 4-point scale with the explicit labels (1) always, (2) usually, (3) sometimes, and (4) never interested.
Obviously, we can assume that the response sometimes interested is indicative of less interest than always interested, and so on. Thus, we could rank the respondents with regard to their expressed interest in, for example, watching football. When categorical variables can be interpreted in this manner, there are several additional indices that can be computed to express the relationship between variables.
Detailed discussions of the Spearman R statistic, its power and efficiency can be found in Gibbons (1985), Hays (1981), McNemar (1969), Siegel (1956), Siegel and Castellan (1988), Kendall (1948), Olds (1949), or Hotelling and Pabst (1936). Kendall tau is equivalent to the Spearman R statistic with regard to the underlying assumptions. It is also comparable in terms of its statistical power. However, Spearman R and Kendall tau are usually not identical in magnitude because their underlying logic, as well as their computational formulas are very different.
Siegel and Castellan (1988) express the relationship of the two measures in terms of the inequality:More importantly, Kendall tau and Spearman R imply different interpretations: While Spearman R can be thought of as the regular Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient as computed from ranks, Kendall tau rather represents a probability. Specifically, it is the difference between the probability that the observed data are in the same order for the two variables versus the probability that the observed data are in different orders for the two variables.
Kendall (1948, 1975), Everitt (1977), and Siegel and Castellan (1988) discuss Kendall tau in greater detail. Two different variants of tau are computed, usually called taub and tauc.
These measures differ only with regard as to how tied ranks are handled. In most cases these values will be fairly similar, and when discrepancies occur, it is probably always safest to interpret the lowest value. The Gamma statistic is preferable to Spearman R or Kendall tau when the data contain many tied observations.
Thus, Gamma is basically equivalent to Kendall tau, except that ties are explicitly taken into account. Detailed discussions of the Gamma statistic can be found in Goodman and Kruskal (1954, 1959, 1963, 1972), Siegel (1956), and Siegel and Castellan (1988).
